In addition to electricity and heat alone, CertiQ also certifies the combination of electricity and heat from renewable sources. An example of this is a fermentation plant in which electricity is produced using one or more gas engines, and the heat is used for useful purposes. Another example is a waste incineration plant generating both electricity and heat.
Certification is important for the transparency of the energy market. In addition, it is a prerequisite for receiving a grant. Companies and (non-profit) institutions that produce renewable energy can use the 'SDE+' subsidy scheme.
